"GERMAN SOCIAL REALISM ART GALLERY"
This series was inspired by art created during the first half of the twentieth century in Germany. it was called SOCIAL REALISM. It reflects the interest of artists in uncovering the everyday mundane of objects and surroundings. It pokes fun at the everyday ironies that surround us. It creates the term kitsch to describe the mundane yet elevated desires of the populace for freedom from cultural entrapments.

Title: "This was painted with a block of wood. It is like a print of something, like a newspaper article repeated over and over again. During times of confusion people look to something to get a clue...I think of this art as a 'clue'"

Title: "A child's dress against a white ground: The meaning is clear..when is a child's dress ever clean for very long? There is an irony in this..."

Title: "This painting is made with two different fabrics. It is a kind of internalization of the ego, of th self. The eye, again, describes a desire to understand."

Title: "At one point flamingos on wall papers were considered kitsch. Perhaps its the ever evolving question of escapism from reality. I think we all escape from the now somehow...I use my art to escape and create something bigger than me."

Title: "Keeping this clean would be imposible and is ironic "

Title: "Again this painting expresses the mundane of every life within the scarcity of society. Here we have a beach and light...but where is everything coming from? How is society organized? During the Weimar period, during periods of upheaval in society..confusion reigns! "

Title: "A sun wrinkled into a fabric "

Title: "Umbrellas again...do they protect us from the rain...and when it rains do we get cold and wet? "
