This series were inspired by a trip to Malaga, Spain (home of Picasso). Directly from the artist: "I was so touched by the grand landscape and the everlasting skies that light in the morning as the sun rises from Africa. These paintings are created with a mix of paint and straw, (a technique which I came up with on my own). This technique works to incorporate into the art the sometimes rough feel of the Spanish Andalucian landscape. Because I liked the technique so much, I did a flower series. If you notice, the style is somewhat cubistic as the sharp edges join each other in the overall harmony of the work. Ilove Spain and I love these paintings."
