“FAMOUS HOLLYWOOD CELEBRITY FOODS”
Los Angeles, California, USA A REVIEW SERIES of Restaurants, Eateries, Food Stands & More + pop art photography of contemporary still life and urban landscapes BOOK 1 by Grace Divine INTRODUCTION FROM BOOK This is a REVIEW of a meal I had at Pink's, a hot dog eatery located at 709 N La Brea Ave in Los Angeles, California, USA. Please note that this review, as well as myself, are not in any way associated with the eatery or its owners. The substance of this book comprises solely my personal experience and opinion and it falls under the Fair use copyright principles for purposes of commentary, review, education, criticism, etc. I have lived in Orange County California for much of my life. However, I had never heard of Pinks until I learned about it on 2010. I then heard that PINK'S has been around since 1939 and since then, it has been a Hollywood landmark. As such it has catered to thousands of people in the entertainment industry including such big stars as Bill Cosby, Jay Lenno, Tom Hanks, Giada deLaurentiis, Holly Madison, Kim Kardashian, Katie Couric, Oprah Winfrey, Martha Stewart, Dennis Miller, Carol Channing, Henry Winkler, Betty White, Hal David, Patt Morrison, Billy Crystal, David Hasselhof, Craig Ferguson, Ellen Degeneres, Kirk Douglas, Lawrence Fishburne, Aretha Franklin, Jason Alexander, Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, and others. Based on all these famous celebrities visiting the eatery, I decided to visit myself. On a beautiful Sunday morning, I traveled there. I was happily surprised to find out that the locale had a private parking Lot adjacent to the eatery with a Lot attendant on hand who offered to valet the car. What convenience I thought in this area of Los Angeles where finding parking can be difficult. Afterward, I went to get in line to order. And of course, I ate a hot dog. I will put it in one word, WOW! It was so rich and packed with flavor it almost knocked me over. This dog carried a ONE TWO PUNCH! Having been raised in Europe, the flavor reminded me of strong European sausage; even maybe stronger. In the end, this may have been too strong for me as I suffer from a sensitive gut. However, anyone who likes and can eat strong and heavy flavored meats and food would possibly enjoy this. Also, the portions were generous, and the fries looked crunchy delectable. Please note, I don't recall seeing a gluten-free choice in the menu. If you have gluten allergies please contact the establishment to find out. I have to admit, what impressed me most about the eatery, were the hundreds upon hundreds of photographs of celebrities that were hanging on the walls! (I did not count the number of photographs so I can not be sure how many there actually were.) WOW, THIS ALSO PACKED A PUNCHED! Originally, it had been the allure of celebrity that got me interested in going there. And ultimately, this reminder of how many famous people had frequented the eatery is what impressed me most. Honestly, I had no idea how many famous people appear to love hot dogs! This review is part of a review series of books in which I review restaurants, eateries, hotels, clubs, malls, cemeteries, universities and more. Please note, photographs are artistically photoshopped solely to commemorate my experience, feelings and opinions. They express my views of CONTEMPORARY STILL LIFE as we experience it at this time of the 21st century. As such they constitute socially meaningful and important social commentary. Thank you.
